Build
Replace the system everyone is afraid to touch.
Legacy system modernization is replacing old software without stopping the business that depends on it. It is for teams running on a system nobody wants to restart, with undocumented behavior and real customers on the other end. Kief Studio records what the old system actually does, wraps it where we must, and moves the work to a new system in slices, so there is never one risky cutover night.
What we do
- Watch the old system and write down what it really does, including the parts nobody documented.
- Wrap what has to stay for now, so new pieces can talk to it safely.
- Build the replacement in slices and move traffic one piece at a time.
- Migrate the data with checks against the original, then retire the old system.

Who it is for
Teams on an aging database, an unsupported desktop application, or an on-premises server that the business cannot afford to lose for a day.

When to look elsewhere
A full rewrite over a weekend, or a big-bang switch with no way back. Both put the business at risk for the sake of speed.
What we can stand behind
- 13+ year client relationships.
- 121 million records indexed with sub-second search.
- No shared hosting. Dedicated infrastructure.
Legacy modernization: common questions
Do you switch the old system off on day one?
No. It keeps running while we move the work in pieces. Each slice is tested before traffic moves, and the old system is retired only when nothing depends on it.
What if nobody knows how the old system works?
That is common. We watch it run, read its data, and record the behavior before we replace anything. Guessing at undocumented rules is how migrations lose data.
Should we rewrite the system or wrap it?
Usually both. We wrap the parts that are stable and expensive to replace, and rebuild the parts that block the business. The order comes from risk, not from preference.
